How Brainstorming Can Help You Grow Your Business
Hi everybody, Marina is here your grow to scale strategist.
Let’s talk today about teamwork and about brainstorming.
There are two types of people there are those that like to work through a problem or come up with an idea and take it from point a to point z on their own, they don’t need any help, they work better on their own thinking it through in a quiet room or with the music.
The other type of person is somebody like myself. I love talking to people and I thrive on it.
The best ideas that I come up with is while i’m talking to somebody else either about the issue that is in hand that I’m struggling with, talking through a problem or talking through an idea that I have a blockage over, or talking about any other topic. and in some cases they might say a sentence or they might say a word that will spark an idea or something that will help me break through the “writer’s blockage” or the idea blockage that I’m currently experiencing.
So how does it work…
Let’s assume you have a business partner or you have few employees in the company or there is a friend that you trust and can bounce ideas off.
Now, sit down the partner the friend the team and first of all start by explaining to them why you’re meeting.
Tell them that you have a product, an idea or something you’re working on and you really value their ideas.
You’re a little bit stuck and you were hoping that by talking it through with them you will find a solution or the missing piece that you need in order to complete whatever you’re doing.
Also tell them it’s a safe environment, the person or the people you’re talking to shouldn’t feel uncomfortable sharing their ideas because they’re worried about how it’s going to make you feel how it’s going to affect your relationship or how it’s going to affect their employment if they’re your employees
You want them to be able to feel comfortable with sharing their thoughts and criticizing your idea, because that criticism will help you identify the gaps that need to be sealed or bridged in order to perfect the idea or to solve whatever blockage you’re experiencing.
Ask them for permission to record the conversation. If they don’t want you to, make notes!
It’s not only the ideas they give you but also the ideas that are sparked just by conversing.
Those are the ones that are going to win your battle.
Go back to the drawing board and see how you can implement everything you thought of and everything that came up in the conversation, that can be used in order to solve whatever was blocking your progress.
Don’t forget to thank the people or the person you are sitting with.
Be grateful because without them you wouldn’t be able to break through your blockage.
I hope this helps and we’ll talk a little bit more about teamwork in the future.
